Project Description
New York Asian Women’s Center Brochure
In 2002, I was connected by the Robin Hood Foundation to provide pro-bono design assistance to the New York Asian Women’s Center, a multilingual and culturally sensitive domestic violence shelter based in New York City. From 2002-2005, I helped NYAWC (now Womankind) to revamp their brochure, fundraising and press kits, and annual report designs. I sought to merge Asian and American motifs, expanding the patriotic idea of American freedom and leveraging the concept of the mythical phoenix (rising from ashes) to communicate a message of “freedom from violence at home” for many of America’s most vulnerable.
